RAMON MAGSAYSAY AWARD

• RAMON MAGSAYSAY AWARD Asian highest honour officially conferred to the five award winners for 2019 by RAMON MAGSAYSAY AWARD FOUNDATION (RMAF), On Monday 9 September at the Philippines Cultural Center.
• According to RMAF President Jose Cuisia, the 2019 Ramon Magsay award winners,61^st batch of the Foundation were honoured for their “strong sense of personal commitment” and their ability to rise “beyond terror, constraint, resistance and revolt and uncompromising conviction of the basic integrity of all.”

• This award is given in memory of Ramon Magsaysay, former Philippine President.
• Indian journalist Ravish Kumar received 2019 Ramon Magsaysay Award along with four other Asian awardees.
• Four other 2019 Award winners are Myanmar’s Kow Swe Win, Thai’s Angkhana Neelapaijit, Philippines ‘ Raymundo Pujante Cayabyab and South Korean Kim Jong-Ki.

INDIAN JOURNALIST RAVISH KUMAR

• The award citation from the RMAF said Ravish Kumar, at the age of 44 years, was a senior editor at NDTV India and one of India’s most influential television journalists who focused on real-life and underreported issues of ordinary people.

• Ravish Kumar was born in 1996, in Jitwarpur in the district of Samastipur, in Bihar, and joined New Delhi Television Network (NDTV) as a field reporter.
• Since NDTV launched its 24-hour Hindi news channel NDTV India, targeting the millions of  Hindi native speakers in the country, He started own daily show, called Prime Time.
