RAMON MAGSAYSAY AWARD HISTORY AND FOUNDATION
- The RAMON MAGSAYSAY AWARD was established in April 1957 with the sponsorship of the Philippine government by the Trustees of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund based in New York.
- The Ramon Magsaysay Award is an annual award founded to continue the example of leadership honesty, courageous service for the people and pragmatic idealism in a democratic society by former Philippine President Ramon Magsaysay.
- Ramon del Fierro Magsaysay was the third president of the Republic of the Philippines after World War II. His life had a great impact not only on his home country but on many people in many countries. He was one of his time’s great leaders.
- The award is globally recognized as Asia’s Nobel prize and this award is the highest honour offered to Asian people and organisations.
