ABOUT ITBP
ITBPF was established on 24 Oct 1962. ITBP is Presently guarding border duties from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh which covers around 3488 km of Indo-China Border and manning Border Outposts on altitudes between the range of 9000’ to 18700’ in the Western, Middle and Eastern Sector of the Indo-China Border. ITBPF is a specially trained mountain Force. All the officers & men are professionally trained mountaineers and skiers. ITBPF is the first responder for natural disaster in the Himalayas from the Indian soil, ITBPF has been carrying out numerous rescue and relief operations.
ITBP required the professionals having Adventurous and dare-devilry skills. ITBPF has the world class mountaineers who have climbed more than a hundred Himalayan peaks, which includes the Mount Everest, four times. ITBPF skiers have been national champions, who make India proud in the winter Olympics. ITBPF river rafters have created world history in rafting through the turbulent white waters of the mighty Brahmaputra, the Indus, and the Ganga.
